Tapferkeit,
Timotheus' dam
injured her right eye as a three year old which caused her to go blind in one eye. As a
result, her fate as a broodmare was determined at age four when she
produced her first foal. Subsequently, over the next 13 years, Taffy produced 11 more “outstanding” foals, two which died at birth. Tapferkeit
was a phenomenal broodmare, a true “one of a
kind". She
passed on to her offspring her beautiful expressive
head, large eye, lovely neck, correct conformation,
and harmonious way of going. Her children also inherited her wonderful temperament and desire to
please. At age eighteen, Taffy retired as a broodmare after producing her
last foal, Timotheus.
In
addition to producing the ATA Approved Stallion Timotheus,
Tapferkeit is also grand dam to the Approved Stallions,
Tigre and Tradition *Pb*.
Note: Even though Tapferkeit
produced 10 surviving offspring, she wasn't eligible to receive the
designation of "Honor Roll Mare" because only 9 offspring were registered with the organization. To be
an "Honor Roll Mare",
the ATA requires that 10 offspring be
registered.
Avignon II,
Tapferkeit's sire was a black/brown imported stallion. He was a
very popular ATA sire for many years and currently has 39 Stud Book
daughters registered with ATA as well as serveral German Verband
daughters. He is a
full brother to the German Stallion
E.H. Arogno, a modern legend in the
Trakehner breed and one of the highest ranking Trakehner stallions in
the World Breeding Federation index.
Avignon II produced numerous "A" Hunter Champions including the
1986 First-Year Green National Champion, Baron Palazzo and ATA Adult
Amateur Champion, The Dancemaster. He is also the sire of the
multi-talented performance mare Kapstadt vom Castell *Pb*. His offspring
are often characterized by their level-headedness, great beauty and
refinement.
Tjabine, Tapferkeit's dam was imported to the United States from Germany in 1980 by Castell Imperator Hof. Before she was imported, she was shown at 1st
and 2nd level dressage. She also jumped successfully, and was ridden
cross-country. Tjabine produced many performance sons and daughters
and was an ATA "Honor Roll Mare". She died at age 33.
Tansania, Tapferkeit's grand dam
was a black imported Premium State mare, and winner of many breed shows.
She was also an ATA "Honor Roll Mare". Her sire
Hartung, was considered one of the breeds most successful sport
horse producers, especially when it came to show jumpers. Her son Tannhauser by
Maharadscha was a jumping Champion. Tansania's full sister Tarabia
was an Elite State Premium mare and received the Silver Medal FN
in Germany. Tarabia produced 2 approved sons and her
rider received
the USDF Bronze
Medal at 3rd level dressage.
